Born in
Vancouver, B.C. in 1954, Marion has had a keen interest in all aspects of
spinning wool, dyeing, and weaving since 1970. A move to New Mexico in 1989 gave
her an opportunity to study with renowned tapestry artist, Nancy Kozikowski for
a three year period, where she worked intensively on dye formulas and tapestry
techniques and helped execute the 14' x 14' tapestry that now hangs at the Mt.
Sinai Medical Center in NYC. Marion's award winning works have been shown at
galleries in the US and Canada, and she has done many commissioned pieces that
hang in private collections across the US. She now has her studio set up on
Cortes Island, B.C. where she hand spins her romney wool and dyes it into
hundreds of shades of color before weaving up images of mountains, ocean and
desert, well defined by her trademark borders on each end. |
